How much can a single blog post matter for your business?
More than you can imagine.
A single post can generate a surprising amount of revenue if you understand how to monetize your page. There’s more to it than just SEO and getting people to click your link, however.
There are a few key things you should focus on. If your curiosity has you, then read on and we’ll show you the core concept of creating a revenue giant of a post.
Making Money with a Blog Post
The old model of revenue for blogs primarily came from CPC advertising, and some places still do well with that model.
If you’re even remotely aware of social media then chances are you’ve seen the big content aggregator sites like Ranker, which do quite well by just spamming out content and collecting on the small percentage of people who still click on ads.
If you’re even remotely tech savvy, you can see a problem with this immediately: a bit more than one in four people use ad blockers of some kind.
Instead, the post itself should be the revenue generator.
This can mean selling your own products, pushing forward other people’s products as an affiliate, or even things like getting people to sign up for e-mail lists depending on your site’s model.
The best advertisements are hidden in plain sight. Review articles and buyer’s guides are a good example of this.
You’ll still need traffic, usually through SEO, but it’s a lot better than hoping for pennies per click on ads that a quarter of people won’t even see.
Some examples of useful post types for bringing home the bacon are:
- Buyer’s guides
- Product or service reviews
- Deep information about your niche
The common thread is that these are all useful for the user and allow for you to seamlessly plug your own product.
An Example of a Good Money Making Blog Post
Here’s a non-obvious example: an article about how to choose a paddle board.
The first thing you’ll notice is that the page doesn’t really seem to be pushing anything. A trained eye will notice internal links to product pages, but for the most part, it looks like exactly what it says it is: a guide to picking out a paddleboard.
That’s exactly why it’s a good example. The page is informative and well-optimized for SEO and they really don’t have to push anyone. Those who click on the post are probably looking for a paddleboard anyways, and the traffic driven here is convertible for the most part.
It’s natural, organic, and informative—everything a buyer’s guide style post should be. If there’s enough traffic, that page in itself could be a serious money maker.
Buyer’s guides are popular for both e-commerce and Amazon affiliate pages for good reason: they’re informational and make it easy to promote products while looking objective.
It’s a fine line to walk, but done properly a single post can bring a lot of money.

When it comes to a monetized blog post, most people’s results will be hit or miss at first.
